A 14th-century building

Known as of the year 1315 by the name Mas Ginesta des Pontiró, this masia is now listed as a historic Catalan farm in this region.

Following a 16th century wedding, it became known as Mas Pagès de Vall-llobrega. According to 17th century archives at the Sant Feliu de Guíxols monastery, the masia seems to have been sold in 1641 to Joan Llorens Perich de Palamós before returning to the same Pagés family a few years later.

A historic site

In the 18th century, its ownership again changed hands when the widow of a descendant of the Pagès family, Maria Teresa Estany i Fina, the second wife of José Bajandas, sold it: after that date, the masia became known as Mas Bajandas. It would keep this name until the end of the first decade of the 21st century when the owners turned it into a small traditional rural hotel.

A completely renovated and transformed venue

In 2020, the new owners decided to re-arrange, renovate and expand the facilities to create a charming boutique hotel that would open its doors in the spring of 2021: Hotel Mas del sol.

About us

Long-time lovers of the Baix Empordà region, it was in 2016 that we decided to leave our city lives and look for a place in the heart of nature, both close to and set back from the hustle and bustle of the coast, with the aim of creating a Boutique hotel in line with our own values: comfort, simplicity and hospitality, to make everyone feel at home.

After 4 years of hard work and personal investment, it’s with great pleasure and humility that we welcome you since 2021 to our small, charming hotel at the foot of the Gavarres massif, just a stone’s throw from some of the Costa Brava’s most beautiful coves. With Mas del sol, we hope to share our dream with you for the duration of your stay.
