These measures reflect our convictions in terms of sustainable development and we strive to turn them into specific actions with the intention of intensifying our efforts over the coming years because there is still so much to do in this area.
Hotel Mas del sol was equipped in 2021 with solar photovoltaic panels in order to take better advantage of the local sunny climate. Thus, our hot water, climate control system, water pressure, pool water filtration… are mostly supplied with solar energy.
In the car park, there are two stalls equipped with electrical vehicle charging stations so guests may fully recharge their electrical vehicle batteries overnight, for example.
Our gardens are irrigated exclusively using water from a well situated below the property near the river. In addition, the species of plants and trees that are planted in the gardens on our property have been selected from among the indigenous Mediterranean varieties which require very little water. Likewise, this same well supplies the swimming pool and all the toilets around the property.
The swimming pool is also equipped with a water saline filtration system so we don’t have to use any chlorinated solutions which are harmful to people’s skin and the environment.
Our drinking water is entirely produced with a water purification system installed in the kitchen (recently-made water) which treats the city water so we may offer our guests still or sparkling water of perfect quality packaged in personalized glass bottles both in our dining areas as well as in our guests’ rooms.
At Hotel Mas del sol, we take special care and great pleasure in building relationships with local producers in order to offer you a range of local foods and drinks: meat, fish, eggs, dairy products, rice, fruits and vegetables. They’re all quality products which we make an effort to purchase from within our region, including through certain protected designations of origin (DOP de Pals rice, for example).
As for wine, olive oil and honey, we are fortunate to be able to participate ourselves in their production on the property and to get our supplies from the producers we work with.
At Hotel Mas del sol, we offer cleansing hygiene products in the rooms with all-natural citrus, lemon grass, lavender and peppermint aromas for everyone’s wellbeing.
Finally, we do not systematically wash bath and pool towels on a daily basis as part of our efforts to limit the use of detergents and water consumption. Thus, we kindly ask our guests to leave their bath towels on the floor when they would like clean ones.
As for cleansing hygiene products, rather than using small individual bottles that generate a lot of polluting waste, we have opted for large 500 ml refillable bottles. These are equipped with dispensing pumps which also have the advantage of being more hygienic to use.
Finally, as is appropriate these days, we carry out selective sorting of the various products we use and consume as well as their packaging (organic – cardboard – plastics…) in order to allow for better recycling of each one.
